Fresh target killings claim nine lives in Karachi

At least nine people were killed in different firing incidents as targeted killing gripped the metropolis once again. According to a private TV channel, 32-year old Aslam was killed in Malir Alfalah early Monday morning; another was shot dead in Gulshan-e Maymar; and, a 22-year old man identified as Dildar was gunned down in Korangi. The corpse of an unidentified man was found in Ibrahim Hyderi - his hands and feet were tied. Three people including two brothers Nadeem and Noman and their friend Ansar were targeted in North Karachi. In another incident of targeted killing, an MQM activist Farhan was killed in Yousuf Plaza. Separately, 40-year old Tanveer Abbas Rizvi was critically injured in Rizvia Society. He was immediately taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to injuries. Local residents, in protest, burnt tires and blocked the road in Rizvia Society. Tanveer Abbas was a government employee; he left behind a wife and three children. Police has tightened security as tension prevailed in the city after these recent target killings.
