HRP-4 robot strutting the stage

There is a video of this thing after the jump if you want to see it in action, and it does a lot of action. In fact, it looks like Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Tecnology (AIST) and Kawada Industries have created a Cylon robot pulled straight out of Caprica. I think he’s prepping to join the Power Rangers.

As you can see, the motions of the HRP-4 are quite fluid. I’m going to steal a line from Blade Runner and venture to say that it is “more human than human”.

Yes, this is probably the part where we see the robot body doing everything human, and then we humans decide to give it some kind of brain. Well, science-fiction movies have shown us where this is going.

After all, my Source says that these robots have been made to replace Japanese workers. Yeah, I’m not looking forward to all those human workers not being able to keep up. Domo Arigoto Mr. Roboto!

Of course, these robots move so fluidly that the robot dance is going to have to change its name once these things get mass produced.
